Bye, bye, baseball

So, have you heard yet that baseball and softball were ousted from the summer olympics? That's right...they're too darn American! All this occured during a SECRET vote in Singapore. Give me a break. The olympics are morphing into a political parade rather than a sports competition. Some of the reasons cited for getting rid of baseball include doping and the fact that the USA doesn't send major leaguers. Basically, the world realizes that if we can win gold with our crappy players, then we would certainly woop a** with our major, they got rid of the sport to avoid USA embarassing the world yet again. However, I think these reasons are trivial compared with the anti-American sentiment so pronounced throughout the world.

Tyler keeps using all these words spelled with stars... He's a college graduate and he spells English words with stars.

It's a shame that the world would insult our nation like this. Of course we probably get insulted daily by the UN, ACLU, Media, Terrorist Groups, Certain Political Parties, and Canadians.

The irony is... we are hated and insulted because we are powerful and use that power to manipulate world events. Yes, the majority of that manipulation is designed to promote democracy and freedom, while providing humanitarian aid to those in need... but still, we're the 800 pound gorilla, and no matter how much good we try to do, people still hate us.

Ok, the irony thing is this... if we fell as a nation the world would regret losing our support.

Wait a minute! Baseball is American? Take any team's line up and tell me if you still think so. This game is more Caribbean than American.

Besides, it was only a few days ago that baseball was being criticized as slow and boring (by the same person posting the article I might add). Do you want it or don't you want it?

American as apple pie! You got me, I don't watch baseball at the Olympics either. If the IOC had just come out and said that baseball was boring and that poor attendance, or lack of interest, was the reason for its ouster I would have wholeheartedly agreed. However, they decided to make it a political scene through their lame reasoning.

Point also well made that Carribean and even Far East countries enjoy the game as much, or more, than Americans.
